Pull back and the entire tree is a single picture you can pan across, not a window of a few generations.\n\n• Every Family Fits — Second marriages, half-siblings, adoption and single parents are drawn as they are, not squeezed into a chart that expects one couple per child.\n\n• Dates as the Registers Wrote Them — \"About 1887\", \"before 1900\", \"between 1872 and 1875\", or a phrase exactly as the record gave it.
