So every receipt can be tagged Business or Personal and carry a note saying why, and the Overview tells you plainly when a business receipt is still missing that reason.\n\nTips are captured separately, because a tip is part of a meal and meals deduct differently from travel. A receipt that adds up is marked as checked. No account. No sign-up. No servers. Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to. Your receipts and photographs never leave your device unless you export them yourself.\n\nThat is also why there is no subscription for scanning. It costs nothing to run, so it costs nothing to use.\n\nHONEST ABOUT WHAT IT CAN'T READ\n\nA photograph too blurry to read is a photograph too blurry to read. When Paper Trail can't check its own work against a printed total, it says so before it shows you the numbers, and offers to let you take a better photo. It will not hand you a tidy list it has no confidence in.\n\nPaper Trail is a record-keeping tool, not tax advice. It records what you tell it about each receipt; what you claim is between you and your accountant.",
