"description": "Turnout answers one question every horse owner asks before breakfast: do they\nneed a rug today, and if so which one?\n\nTell it where your field is and a little about your horse, and it reads the\nforecast for your turnout hours specifically — not the whole day, and not the\nnearest town.\n\nWHAT IT TELLS YOU\n\n• Naked, rain sheet, 100g, 200g or 300g, with the reason in plain English\n• Why: \"it's 8° but the wind makes it feel like 4°, and rain sets in at 11:00\"\n• Warnings that matter: gusts strong enough to want strap checks, a swing warm\n enough that the rug should come off by lunch, ice in the trough\n• An hourly rainfall map, and where the rain is heading\n• Grass sugar and laminitis risk, based on soil temperature, brightness and a\n week of rainfall\n\nIT ASKS ABOUT YOUR HORSE\n\nA clipped thoroughbred and a native pony need different rugs on the same day.\nTurnout accounts for clip, type, age, field shelter and your actual turnout\nhours, including overnight turnout.\n\nFor laminitis risk it also asks about previous episodes, EMS or PPID, body\ncondition, cresty neck, workload and how grazing is managed — because who the\nhorse is matters far more than what the weather is doing.\n\nGRASS AND LAMINITIS\n\nGrass makes sugar whenever it is bright, but only grows when the soil is warm\nenough. When those come apart, sugar builds up in the leaf. That is why frosty\nsunny mornings are the classic danger, and why the app will tell you there is no\nsafe grazing window at all on some days rather than suggesting a better time.\n\nA DAILY NUDGE\n\nTurn on the reminder and it taps you on the shoulder an hour before turnout. It\ndeliberately tells you nothing about the weather — it just opens the app, which\nfetches a fresh forecast there and then.\n\nNO ACCOUNT, NO ADS, NO TRACKING\n\nThere is no sign-up, no advertising and no analytics. Your field and your horse\nstay on your phone.\n\nPLEASE STILL CHECK THEM YOURSELF\n\nThis is a starting point built from a forecast, not a decision, and it is not\nveterinary advice. Slide a hand under the rug at the shoulder: warm and dry is\nright, damp or sweaty means too much. Over-rugging is more common than\nunder-rugging. If you suspect laminitis, ring your vet the same day.",
