You power on the mobile router you use for work, but your Mac stays on your home Wi-Fi. With Wai-Fi, your Mac switches to that router shortly after it appears — once Wai-Fi has made sure it's really there. Turn the router off and macOS goes back to your usual network.\n\nAuto Switch\n- Turn on Auto Switch for a network. When it appears and it's higher in your priority than the current network, Wai-Fi switches to it\n- A network that only flickers into view is ignored; Wai-Fi confirms it before switching\n- After a switch it waits a moment, so your Mac doesn't bounce back and forth\n- If a switch fails twice, Auto Switch rests for a while instead of retrying forever\n\nYour choice comes first\n- Pick a network yourself and Wai-Fi leaves it alone for a while (30 minutes by default)\n- Pause Auto Switch from the menu: 15 minutes, 1 hour, until tomorrow, or until you resume\n\nOne glance at the menu bar\n- The current network, signal strength and link speed\n- The menu bar icon takes the color of the network you're on\n- Saved networks that are nearby, at a glance\n\nYour own priority\n- Drag to reorder, or hover and choose \"First\"\n- Undo with ⌘Z. The main actions also work from the keyboard and with VoiceOver\n- Wai-Fi's order is Wai-Fi's own; it doesn't change your macOS settings\n\nMake each network your own\n- Choose an icon (home, camera, phone, office and more), a color and a display name\n\nAbout passwords\nmacOS doesn't let apps use the Wi-Fi passwords it has saved. So for each network you want Wai-Fi to switch to, save its password in Wai-Fi once. It's kept in this Mac's keychain and used only to join that network; it never appears in logs or exports.\nYour usual network — the one macOS goes back to — needs no password in Wai-Fi.\n\nPrivacy\n- Nothing is sent over the internet. No account, no analytics, no ads\n- Location access is used only because macOS requires it to read Wi-Fi network names. Wai-Fi never reads where your Mac is\n\nDemo Mode\nNo second network handy? Try Auto Switch with pretend networks. Your real settings aren't touched.\n\nGood to know\n- While AirPlay, screen mirroring, Sidecar or Universal Control is in use, macOS may refuse to switch networks (Wai-Fi tries again later)\n- The first time Wai-Fi switches, macOS asks whether \"Wai-Fi\" may change Wi-Fi settings; switching networks needs this\n- Work or school Wi-Fi that signs in with a user name (802.1X) can't be switched to\n\nIn English and Japanese.\n\nRequires macOS 26 or later.\n\nWi-Fi® is a registered trademark of Wi-Fi Alliance®.",
