By CESAR ARIEL BAEZ · ProductivityWhy we expect it: Clear value from verifiable action items with source quotes, and a thorough description that spells out exactly what you need.
In short
Acta Studio is a Mac app that records meetings, transcribes them and writes a record with a summary, decisions, action items with owners and due dates, and open questions. It is aimed at people who need to remember who committed to what in team meetings, client calls, interviews and classes. Each action item links to the quote that supports it, so the claims can be checked against the transcript.

Acta Studio records your meetings, transcribes them and writes the record: summary, decisions, action items with owners, and open questions. Everything stays on your Mac.
IMPORTANT — YOU NEED YOUR OWN API KEY Acta Studio does not include transcription or AI credits. It works with your own account at Deepgram, OpenAI, Google AI Studio or Anthropic, and those services bill you separately at their own rates. Without an API key the app cannot transcribe or write the record. Google AI Studio has a free tier to get started.
WHO IT IS FOR Team meetings, client calls, interviews, classes and consultations. Any conversation where you later need to remember who committed to what.
HOW IT WORKS 1. Paste your API key in Settings. A wizard guides you and tests the connection before saving. 2. Choose microphone, system audio, or both. 3. Record. When you stop, you have the transcript and the record.
RECORDING • Microphone and system audio, together or separately • Captures the audio of video calls and of any app playing on your Mac • Recording controls always at hand from the menu bar
TRANSCRIPTION • Deepgram, with live streaming and speaker separation • OpenAI Transcribe or Google Gemini Audio • English and Spanish • Not happy with the result? Reprocess the same recording with another provider, without recording again
THE RECORD • Meeting summary and the list of decisions made • Action items with owner and due date • Each action item carries the quote from the meeting that backs it, so you can verify it instead of trusting the AI • Questions left open and the list of participants • Fully editable: fix whatever the AI misread and mark the record as validated, with a date • Written by OpenAI, Claude or Gemini, whichever you prefer
NOTES AND ATTACHMENTS • Jot down agreements, figures or context during and after the meeting • Attach PDFs and images to the session • The AI takes your notes and attachments into account when writing the record: what was never said out loud counts too
ORGANIZING • Folders and color tags • Filters by tag, date, sessions with notes or with a record • A pending view, to see at a glance what you have not processed yet
EXPORTING • The record as a PDF, ready to send • The full transcript as Markdown • Or share straight from the app
PRIVACY • Your recordings, transcripts and records are stored only on your Mac • Audio goes only to the provider you configured, under your own account • Your keys are stored in the macOS Keychain • Private sessions protected with Touch ID • No account, no servers of ours, no advertising and no tracking
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It does not connect to your calendar or join meetings on its own. It uploads nothing to the cloud except the audio that goes to your provider. It does not transcribe without an API key.
