About

To improve your sight-reading, you have to read music you have never seen before.

When you practice from standard sheet music books, your fingers memorize the notes after one or two tries. After that, your hands rely on muscle memory instead of real reading.

At First Sight gives you an endless supply of fresh piano sight-reading material. Instead of static exercises from a book, the app generates new sheet music based on the exact skills you want to practice. Sit at your piano, pick your difficulty settings, and read a new piece every session.

STRUCTURED PIANO PROGRESSION

Practice at your current skill level, from single-note reading to two-hand counterpoint:

• Beginner Foundations: Read single lines, stationary five-finger positions, and simple stepwise intervals across the treble and bass clefs. • Two-Hand Coordination: Practice hands together with parallel motion, contrary movement, and wider octave spans. • Advanced Independence: Work on independent voices, syncopated rhythms, and authentic left-hand accompaniment styles.

TWO WAYS TO TRAIN

1. Learn Mode (Notation & Theory Fundamentals) Review core notation concepts step-by-step: clef recognition, pitch reading, note values, accidentals, key signatures, and interval distances. Interactive lessons and quizzes build your note-reading foundation before you sit down at the keys. Foundational lessons are free, with advanced theory and rhythm modules available in Pro.

2. Generative Trainer (Daily Bench Practice) Create targeted sight-reading drills on demand: • Keys: Major and minor key signatures from 0 to 7 sharps and flats. • Meter and Rhythm: Simple and compound time signatures with progressive rhythmic levels (from quarter notes to dotted rhythms and syncopation). • Accompaniment Patterns: Drill genuine keyboard textures including Alberti bass, broken chords, block harmony, waltzes, and stride. • Length: Select quick 4-measure sight-reading sprints or full musical phrases.

BUILT FOR PIANO PRACTICE

• Clear Classical Engraving: Standard sheet music notation formatted to stay sharp and readable on phone and tablet music stands. • Works Completely Offline: Practice anywhere without Wi-Fi. Exercises generate directly on your device, making it ideal for basement practice rooms, rehearsal halls, and acoustic pianos without an internet connection. • Zero Distractions: No ads, no audio playback crutches, and no pop-ups while you play. Just the sheet music and your instrument. • Practice Logs: Check your daily streak, total sheets read, and average difficulty level over time.
