Baa: Sleep Detective

By Nguyen Khang · Health and fitnessWhy we expect it: A clear, careful concept that turns sleep data into personal experiments, with honest limits stated up front.
In short
Baa: Sleep Detective is a health and fitness app that looks for patterns in your own sleep. You can import nights from Apple Health or log them by hand, then open one investigation at a time, such as waking tired or trouble falling asleep. It stands out for its approach: it compares clues against your usual nights and lets you test one small change at a time, keeping a personal playbook of what helps.

Still waking up tired after a full night? Baa investigates your sleep with you — clues from your own nights, one small test, and a playbook of what actually helps.
Trackers tell you what happened. Tip lists tell you what everyone should try. Baa closes the loop: what may be affecting your nights, what to test first, and whether that change actually helped you.
How it works 1. Notice — Import nights from Apple Health, or log last night in a few taps. Each morning, one check-in: how you feel. 2. Investigate — Baa looks for clues in your own data and shows the evidence in plain language, compared with your normal — not a population score. 3. Learn — Test one small change for a few nights. Keep what helps. Set aside what does not seem to matter. It lands in your Sleep Playbook.
What you can do • See last night against your usual bedtime, time asleep, and how you woke up • Open one investigation: waking tired, waking at night, trouble falling asleep, or a messy schedule • Read clues with the evidence behind them — a pattern, not a verdict • Run a single test so you change one thing at a time • Build a personal playbook: Helps me, Hurts me, Doesn't seem to matter • Use it with Apple Health, or with no watch at all
Baa is a sheep, and a terrible detective. The notebook underneath is careful. Early on, Baa will tell you he does not know yet. That is the point.
Baa is not a medical device and cannot diagnose or treat sleep conditions. Tests are small, reversible habit changes, not medical advice. If you suspect a sleep disorder, talk to a clinician.
Start tonight. Log one night, check in tomorrow morning, and let Baa open the case.
