About
Tap once and you're recording. Stop, and the first thing you see is your words as text, not an audio file. Transcription and summaries run entirely on your iPhone. Basin collects no data: no account, no Basin server, no tracking. Basin Pro syncs your memo text through your own iCloud, never through us. Catch a thought in seconds, then read it, edit it and share it like any note.
RECORD IN ONE TAP • Start from the record button on every screen, a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, Control Center, the Action button, Siri or the Shortcuts app. • See your words appear as you speak. Recording keeps going while the screen is locked. • A recording card on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows the time and lets you pause or stop without unlocking. • Pause and pick up where you left off, or add another recording to a memo you already have. • On Apple Watch, open Basin or tap its complication to record; the memo arrives on your iPhone as text.
TEXT FIRST • When you stop, the memo opens on its transcript, split into paragraphs, with the first sentence as its title. • Shape the text with titles, headings, bold, highlights and lists. • Basin keeps the original transcript: look at it, go back to it or delete it at any time. • Organize: on devices that support Apple Intelligence, Basin suggests a short summary and a title, also generated on the device.
CONNECT YOUR IDEAS • Basin suggests related memos from the words they share; you decide what gets linked. • Collect the memos about one matter in a thread. • See your links as a graph, or explore them in 3D.
FIND AND SHARE • Search, favorites, pinned memos and a calendar of past days. • Send a memo to Reminders, or share it as text, an image card, a Markdown note for Obsidian or a post on X. • Recently Deleted keeps memos for 30 days.
Everything above is free.
BASIN PRO: MONTHLY, EVERY 3 MONTHS OR LIFETIME • iCloud Sync: your memos' text, titles, summaries, threads and links on all your iPhones and Macs, through your own private iCloud. Recordings don't sync; they stay on your iPhone. • Basin for Mac: read, edit, search, copy and export your memos on the Mac, with the same formatting tools as on iPhone. Basin Pro covers iPhone and Mac. • Advanced export: Markdown with [[links]] between memos, automatic export to a folder you choose in Files, and a selection, a thread or a date range exported as Markdown files to a folder you pick. Choose the content, the properties at the top and the file names. • Replacement rules: teach Basin a word it keeps mishearing, and every new transcription applies your rules. Apply them to past memos too. • Turn sync off on any device in Settings. Not buying, a refund or the end of a subscription never deletes a memo. • All three plans include everything above. New subscribers get the first month of the monthly plan free. • Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them in your Apple Account settings at least 24 hours before the period ends. Lifetime is a one-time purchase.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your recordings stay on your iPhone, and speech recognition and summaries happen on the device. Your text stays on your iPhone too; with Basin Pro, iCloud Sync also keeps it in your own private iCloud database unless you turn sync off in Settings. Basin has no account and no server of its own, and it collects no data. The first time you record in a language, iOS downloads Apple's speech recognition model for it.
Requires iOS 26 or later; the Apple Watch app requires watchOS 26 or later; Basin for Mac requires macOS 26 or later and Basin Pro. Summaries are available only on devices that support Apple Intelligence.
