In short

BreathPet: Dog & Cat Breathing is a health-fitness app for owners of dogs and cats with heart disease whose vets ask them to count sleeping or resting breaths at home. Users tap once per breath for 30 or 60 seconds, and the app shows breaths per minute against the vet's threshold and builds a printable PDF report for appointments. It stands out for its silent counting and its option to log weight, cough, medicines and clinic lab results alongside the counts.

About

Your vet asked you to count your dog's or cat's breaths while they sleep? Tap once per breath for 30 seconds — BreathPet gives you the breaths per minute. No stopwatch, no math. Every count is saved, shown against the threshold your vet gave you, and turned into a report for the next visit.

For dogs and cats with heart disease — a heart murmur, mitral valve disease (MVD), HCM in cats — whose vet asked you to count the sleeping or resting respiratory rate (SRR / RRR) at home. A Cavalier with a murmur or a cat with HCM: one tap per breath is all it takes.

TAP, DON'T COUNT IN YOUR HEAD Tap anywhere on the screen each time the chest rises. Choose 30 or 60 seconds, or count until the rhythm is steady. The app keeps the count and a ring shows the time left. The result is breaths per minute — the number your vet asks for. • Silent, so it won't wake a sleeping pet • Sleeping and resting counts kept apart • Follows your light or dark setting • Uneven taps? The count is kept and marked, so your vet knows • Couldn't finish? Note why in one tap — restless, coughing, too playful

ABOVE OR BELOW YOUR VET'S NUMBER Enter the breathing threshold your vet gave you for each animal. Every count shows whether it is above or below that number. The app also works out your pet's usual sleeping rate from its own counts, and saves it only when you confirm.

SEE THE TREND A chart of every count, with the average, the range and the days you counted. Gaps stay gaps — days without a count are never smoothed over. Tap a day to see everything recorded on it.

A REPORT FOR YOUR VET A clear, printable PDF for the appointment: the period's counts, averages and range, your pet's usual rate, weight, observations, medicines and charts. Share it or print it. You can open an example report in the app before you subscribe.

WEIGHT, COUGH AND MEDICINES IN ONE PLACE Log weight, a cough (how often and when), a restless night, appetite and energy, and the medicines you give — given or missed, in your own words. Everything sits on one timeline you can filter, edit and delete. For more than one animal, too.

LAB RESULTS FROM THE CLINIC Write down blood tests and clinic measurements — NT-proBNP, creatinine, SDMA, potassium, blood pressure and more, or a test of your own. Each value shows its change since the previous result, and they appear in the vet report. Saving new results comes with a subscription; the ones you have saved stay readable, editable and in your export for good.

REMINDERS For the evening count, medicines and weigh-ins — on the schedule you choose.

PRIVATE: NO ACCOUNT No sign-up and no server of ours. Your records stay on your phone. Export everything to a spreadsheet (CSV) at any time. With a subscription, a dated backup goes to a folder you choose — your cloud drive, if you like — each day you record something. Restoring a backup is always free.

FREE Counting, full history, thresholds for each animal, weight, observations, medicines, notes, editing, reminders, the week view and the CSV export.

WHAT A SUBSCRIPTION ADDS The veterinary PDF report, longer statistics periods (two weeks, a month, a custom range) with a comparison to the period before, automatic backups to your own folder, and recording new lab results.
