About

Brenton Septuagint (LXX) is an offline reader and study tool for the English Septuagint. The complete selected reading-text dataset is bundled with the app, so normal reading, searching and personal study do not require an account or connection.

FEATURES

• 52 writings and 28,637 verses • Book and chapter reading with swipe navigation • Direct reference lookup, including passages such as Gen 1:2–5 • Full-text and whole-word search with highlighted context • Side-by-side reading and search comparison on larger screens • Notes, bookmarks and highlights stored locally on the device • Export and restore of personal study data • Copying and system sharing initiated by the reader • Adjustable themes, text width and line spacing • No account, advertising, analytics or cloud synchronization

ABOUT THE TEXT

The reading text is based on the Modern Brenton English Septuagint dataset. Its modernization updates many older English pronouns and verb forms while retaining the content and structure of Brenton's translation; occasional older forms, vocabulary and sentence patterns remain. It is a reading and study edition, not a new critical translation. The app also provides 2,575 public-domain historical Brenton notes at 2,307 exactly matched verses. These reference notes can include literal renderings, alternative readings, Greek wording and manuscript observations; they remain separate from the Modern Brenton reading text. Edition, source and licence information is available inside the app.

PRIVACY

Reading position, display preferences, notes, bookmarks and highlights remain in local app storage. The app has no account system, advertising, analytics, tracking or automatic cloud synchronization. External source links, email support, exports and system sharing are opened only when the reader chooses them.
