CapyTalk: Language Adventure

Studied a language but freeze when it's time to speak? Come to Capy Town and say it out loud, one stop at a time.

CapyTalk is a speaking-practice app. You are a travelling capybara who has just stepped off the boat, and the townsfolk are played by AI: a fox barista, an owl at the information desk, a deer at the hotel front desk. It's an AI on the other side, so you can try as many times as you like.

EVERY LESSON IS THE SAME LOOP 1. Hear it, say it: listen to three phrases you will need in the scene and repeat them. Words you match turn green. 2. Speak up: the resident talks first and you get things done by speaking. Three goals for the conversation stay on screen. 3. Fix it with blocks: the parts you got wrong turn into blocks. Tap to swap in the right word, then hear the corrected sentence.

NINE LANGUAGES English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Chinese. One-time purchase, all nine included. Explanations and translations are available in English, Traditional Chinese and Japanese.

SEE YOUR PROGRESS Your travel journal keeps your streak, how many sentences you have said and which ones you fixed, plus stickers to collect.

YOUR VOICE STAYS ON YOUR IPHONE Speech recognition runs on the device and recordings are not uploaded. Only text leaves the phone: the sentences you say go through our server to Google Gemini to write replies and corrections. The app explains this and asks for your consent the first time, and you can turn it off in Settings. No account needed.

GOOD TO KNOW AI conversation, corrections and translation need an internet connection. Lesson sentences and live corrections are generated by AI and can occasionally be imperfect. Requires an iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
