CatchWords: Photo Vocabulary

Take a photo of things around you and collect their words in Taiwanese Mandarin (Traditional Chinese). Each word becomes a sticker cut out of your own photo.

■ Snap, and words appear on things ・Take a photo: a light traces the outline of each object and puts a word tag on it ・When people say it in more than one way, you see the everyday, casual and more specific words side by side, each with a short note (e.g. tissue: 面紙 / 衛生紙) ・Tap the word you want: its sticker, the word and its pronunciation appear, and it goes into your collection ・Not among the tags? Look it up with "Type a different word"

■ Your collection ・Word pages show zhuyin, pinyin, meaning, Taiwan Mandarin pronunciation and example sentences ・The date, the place and a short note stay with each word; browse your words on a map, too ・Home builds an album of the words you caught each day

■ Review with your own photos ・4-choice review questions come back at the right time, paced to how well you know each word ・Each question shows the thing you photographed, so you remember where you met the word ・Optional reminders for review time, and when you come near a place where you caught a word ・A Home Screen widget shows today's word

■ Your data ・Photos and text are analyzed by a third-party AI service. The app shows what is sent and asks for your consent first; without it you can still browse and review your words ・Delete your account anytime in Settings
