ChessPlay

Play chess at your own pace. Challenge the built-in computer, face Apple Intelligence on compatible devices, or share the board with a friend on your iPhone or iPad.

APPLE INTELLIGENCE PLAY On supported devices with Apple Intelligence enabled, play casual games using the on-device model or Private Cloud Compute. Cloud play requires iOS 27 or later, internet access, and your consent before sending the current position, legal moves, and recent moves to Apple. Model availability depends on your device and system settings.

FIND YOUR LEVEL Choose from 12 computer strength presets or fine-tune the difficulty. Play casual games or try Ranked mode, where placement games help establish your level on a local ladder of computer opponents.

CLASSIC CHESS AND CHESS960 Enjoy the familiar starting position or explore Chess960. Choose your side and play with bullet, blitz, rapid, custom, or untimed controls.

SHARE THE BOARD Play with a friend on the same device. Pass the device between turns, or enable heads-up view to face each other across the same board, with the top player’s view turned toward them.

REVIEW YOUR GAMES Step through completed games, inspect engine evaluations, and explore alternative lines. Export games in PGN format and revisit your saved history and rating trends.

PICK UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF Keep multiple games in progress and resume saved positions. Export and restore your local data with portable backups.

MADE FOR IPHONE AND IPAD Move pieces by tapping or dragging, with adjustable sound, haptics, and casual undo settings. Choose a light or dark appearance and a board theme. ChessPlay supports 13 interface languages, including Arabic, and includes VoiceOver support.

No ChessPlay account is required. The built-in computer, game analysis, and saved games work offline.
