Chitchat: Dictation & Meetings

Speak a thought, tidy the text and paste it into your work.

Chitchat combines quick dictation with a separate meeting library in a simple Mac app.

DICTATIONS Use a recording shortcut from another app. Press once to start and again to stop. The compact panel stays visible through transcription and cleanup, then shows when the text is ready to paste. Finished dictations copy automatically when the clipboard has not changed during processing.

MEETINGS Start a meeting recording from Chitchat or the menu bar. The app records your microphone and independently attempts application or system audio, with clear source status. Original recordings and transcripts stay available alongside the tidied text.

A SIMPLE LIBRARY Browse recordings by day, search their text, play the saved audio, rename entries, and copy or share text. Light and dark appearance keep the interface comfortable. Optional iCloud sync connects the library with your other devices; download audio when you need it.

PROCESSING ON YOUR MAC Transcription uses Apple's on-device speech tools. Cleanup and automatic titles use the on-device Apple Intelligence model. Review the original whenever you need to check the result.

Requires macOS 26 or later. Cleanup requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible Mac with Apple Intelligence enabled and its model ready. Speech-language and model availability vary. Microphone and system-audio capture require permission. Globe/Fn shortcuts and detecting paste outside Chitchat require Accessibility access. Meeting recording starts manually; automatic meeting detection is not included.
