Con Compás is a flamenco compás metronome for iPhone: a simple, focused way to practice flamenco. Choose your palo, set your tempo, and follow the compás with real palmas and accents.
A clock for the compás Not just a beat. A whole cycle. See every beat at a glance and follow the compás as it moves around the clock. The accents are right there in front of you, and everything you hear lights up as it sounds, so you can see the rhythm as you play it.
Hear the compás your way Real palmas and cajón, recorded by real players, and a mix in the settings that sets one against the other. Or keep it simple with Tone. Set the tempo anywhere from 40 to 300 BPM, and a count-in plays the beats before the compás begins, so you come in on the start beat ready.
Start with a palo. Make it your own. Start with Bulerías, Soleá, Alegrías or Tangos, each ready with its own compás, accents and tempo. Changing one makes a copy of your own, so the one the app ships with stays as it is. Or start from scratch with any compás you can count to twelve.
Open the lock. Shape the compás. Tap to shape it. Accent a beat. Add a sub-accent. Leave it silent. Each voice has its own subdivision, so the palmas and the cajón can fall between the beats as well as on them. Palmas or Cajón, the switch above the clock says which one you're shaping, and the compás keeps playing while you do.
Take away the clock. Keep the compás. Once you know the compás, turn on Blindfold and the clock is gone: one dot pulses with what you hear, and you have to feel where you are. When you're ready, take it off and see how you did.
Vibrate on accents Turn it on in the settings and the phone vibrates with every accent while the app is open, landing with the palmas and the cajón. Sub-accents stay still, so you feel the structure of the compás without being told every beat.
Share the compás Send a link and the entire compás comes with it: its beats, accents, voices, tempo, sound and count-in. Tap the link and it opens in Con Compás, ready to play.
Outside the app While a compás plays, it shows in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen: its clock and, where there is room, its tempo and its name.
Every compás you build is kept on your iPhone. No account. No ads. Made by a flamenco guitarist.
