In short

Daynote - Notes by Day is a productivity app that organises notes, to-dos and events around a calendar date, with tags, search, and light and dark themes in Korean and English. It works fully offline without an account, and signing in with Google or Apple adds optional sync across phone and computer. Its standout feature is an optional note lock that keeps synced notes unreadable even to the service operator.

About

Daynote is a notes app organised by day. Pick a date on the calendar and everything you wrote that day, and everything you meant to do, is right there.

■ The day is the unit Choose a date and its notes open. Keep several notes on one day, rename them, and star the ones you come back to. Days with notes get a dot on the calendar.

■ To-dos and events Tap "+ To-do" to add a to-do or an event with a date, time, repeat and reminder. Each shows on its day and in your lists, apart from the notes.

■ Tags and search Tag a note, or just write #hashtags in the body. Search looks through titles, text and tags at once.

■ Light and dark, Korean and English

■ Everything works without an account Signed out, your notes stay on this device and the app does not go online at all.

■ Sync (optional) Sign in with Google or Apple and your notes, to-dos, tags and favourites stay the same on your phone and in Daynote on your computer. It syncs on its own when you open the app and after you save.

Synced notes are encrypted in transit and at rest, but by default the service holds the key. Turn on the note lock and not even the people running the service can read them; the passphrase is used on your device and never sent.

You can delete your account from Settings at any time. That removes the account and your synced notes from the server immediately; the notes on your device stay.

An Apple sign-in and a Google sign-in are separate accounts. To use Daynote on your computer too, sign in with Google.

■ Daynote Cloud subscriptions (optional) Text sync is free. Syncing the images and files attached to notes needs an auto-renewable subscription: - Daynote Pro Monthly (1 month) / Daynote Pro Annual (1 year) - Daynote Premium Monthly (1 month) / Daynote Premium Annual (1 year) Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before that end. Manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings.
