By Jimmy DE BRUYNE · GamesWhy we expect it: A clever tarot-based card game with three play modes, reactive characters, and a clear hook, presented with thorough, well-organized care.
About
Dégringole is played with a tarot deck around seven shared piles. The idea fits in one sentence: be the first to get rid of all your cards. But every card you play opens up a move for you... or for the player next to you.
HOW TO PLAY • Flip the top card of your stack and put it on one of the seven piles: from King down to Ace, alternating red and black, or from 21 down to 1 for the trumps. • Move whole runs from one pile to another to uncover hidden cards. • Complete a run and the pile closes for good. • Above all: load up your opponents. A single card or a whole run can end up on their discard pile. As long as you can play, your turn goes on.
THREE WAYS TO PLAY • Solo against the AI, Beginner or Expert. • Together on the same device: laid flat on the table, everyone sits in their own corner, 2 to 4 players. • Online with Game Center: invite your friends or find players looking for a game.
MIX UP YOUR GAMES • Time Attack: a countdown on every turn, from Relaxed to Lightning. • Special cards: nine cards with special effects slipped into the deal. Offload your discard pile, make an opponent skip a turn, play twice in a row, swap your next cards... save them for the right moment.
CHARACTERS THAT REACT Pick your face from sixteen characters. Bravo, ouch, a gift, LOL: send a reaction mid-game, and your character acts it out for the whole table.
RECORDS At the end of each round, the scoresheet tells the story of the game: who uncovered the most cards, who loaded up the others the most, who missed moves. Climb the weekly Game Center leaderboards and unlock twenty-nine achievements, from your first King on an empty pile to the Grand Coronation.
