About

Your Mac, from anywhere you are.

Deskway lets you control a Mac, move files to and from it, or open a terminal on it, from your iPhone, iPad or another Mac. Your device connects straight to your Mac, on your own network, or from anywhere your Mac is reachable. There's no account to create and no cloud server in between.

You'll need the free Deskway Server, a small menu bar app, on the Mac you want to reach. Pair once by scanning a QR code, and from then on pick what you need.

REMOTE DESKTOP • The Mac's screen at your device's own resolution, decoded in hardware, with text that stays sharp • A display sized for your device, so nothing is letterboxed or squinted at • Speed, Balanced or Best quality, switchable mid-session • Trackpad gestures and touch on iPhone and iPad, plus a key bar for Esc, Ctrl, arrows and function keys • Full screen and full keyboard on a Mac • A shared clipboard for text, rich text, links and images. Password managers' secrets are never sent

FILE TRANSFER • A two-pane file manager, with this device on one side and the Mac on the other • Browse the whole Mac, not just a shared folder • Interrupted copies pick up where they stopped, and copies keep going after you close the window • Send photos from your iPhone as originals, Live Photos included • Deleting goes to the Mac's Trash, never straight to gone • Keyboard shortcuts: Tab, F5 copy, F6 move and more • An optional speed limit for shared connections

TERMINAL • A shell on your Mac, running as you, in full colour • No SSH keys to set up: pairing is enough • Drop the connection and the shell waits ten minutes for you to come back, with the output you missed • Off until you switch on Allow Terminal on the Mac

PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Encrypted always: QUIC with a pinned host key, and no unencrypted mode • Only devices you've paired can connect. Pairing codes are single-use and expire in three minutes • No account and no relay. Your device dials your Mac directly • Nothing is captured until a device asks to see the screen. File Transfer and Terminal never do • Every connection and file change is logged on the Mac

REQUIREMENTS • iPhone and iPad: iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 or later • Mac app: macOS 15 Sequoia or later • The Mac you control: macOS 15 Sequoia or later, running the free Deskway Server from https://macremote.app
