In short

Dog Clicker & Whistle Training offers a free clicker with three sounds and a whistle from 1 to 22 kHz, plus a 14-day training programme for dog owners that is paid after Day 3. The whistle slider marks where the iPhone speaker stops producing each tone, and the app works offline with no account or ads.

About

Most dog training apps hand you a clicker and wish you luck. That is why the most common complaint in this category is "my dog didn't react" — because a clicker means nothing to a dog until you teach it what it means.

This app does both halves. The sounds are free. The programme that makes them work is what you'd be paying for.

FREE, FOREVER — NO ADVERTS

• Training clicker with three named sounds — sharp metal, soft box, and a double click • Dog whistle from 1 to 22 kHz, with presets for recall and for tones you cannot hear yourself • Adjustable warble and tone • Works with the ring/silent switch on silent • Home-screen shortcuts that open the clicker or whistle in one tap

AN HONEST WHISTLE

The slider shows green, amber and red. Green is what your iPhone genuinely produces. Amber and red are past what any phone speaker can really manage — we still show the full range, and tell you where it stops, rather than letting you wonder why nothing seems to happen.

THE 14-DAY PROGRAMME

Fourteen short sessions you do with your dog in the room. Five to ten minutes a day.

• Days 1–2: give the click meaning, then test whether it worked • Days 3–5: sit, name it, then make it work in every room • Days 6–7: down, and telling two cues apart • Days 8–9: wait — duration first, then distance • Days 10–12: leave it, from a closed fist to an open floor • Days 13–14: somewhere new, and where to go next

Days 1 to 3 are free. You will have seen your dog sit on cue before you are asked for anything.

WHY IT IS DIFFERENT

Every day explains the reasoning, not just the steps — so when something doesn't go to plan you know what to change. Every day has a "what to do if" section for the two things most likely to go wrong. There is no telling off anywhere in the programme.
