Scan an ECU label with your camera and instantly see which tuning tools support it.
ecuGenie turns your iPhone into a workshop tool for identifying engine control units. Point the camera at the label on a Bosch ECU — the app reads the 10-digit serial number live, looks it up in a database bundled inside the app, and shows you the matched unit along with the tools that work on it.
HOW IT WORKS
• Live camera scanning — hold the label in the guide box; no button to press, no photos to take. • On-device text recognition reads the serial as you move, combining many readings for an accurate result even on dirty, worn, or angled labels. • Automatic barcode and QR support when the label carries one. • Near-miss suggestions — if a digit is ambiguous, the closest matching units are offered rather than a dead end. • Family fallback — when an exact serial is not on file, ecuGenie can still identify the ECU family from the label.
WHAT YOU GET
• Matched ECU with manufacturer, model, and type. • Tool compatibility at a glance: KESS3, Powergate, and the supported OBD, Bench, and Boot modes. • Vehicle applications linked to the matched unit. • Library — browse and search the full database by ECU, vehicle, or tool without scanning. • History — every scan is saved on your device so you can return to an earlier result.
BUILT FOR THE WORKSHOP
The database ships inside the app, so scanning and lookups work with no internet connection and no account. Nothing you scan is uploaded. Adjustable scan modes, lens selection, and exposure control help on difficult labels and in poor lighting.
ecuGenie is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Robert Bosch GmbH or any tool manufacturer. Brand and product names are referenced only to describe the hardware the app identifies.
