In short

Electrical Prep: Journeyman is an education app that helps users prepare for the electrical Knowledge Verification Exam by requiring them to produce answers rather than reread them. It covers 1,188 explained questions, a 46-module four-year apprentice curriculum, and timed exam simulations. Its spaced review schedule, which uses the FSRS scheduler, stands out, and it works offline with no account or ads.

About

Electrical Prep gets you through the electrical Knowledge Verification Exam by making you produce answers, not reread them. Works offline. No account, no ads, no tracking. The one screen that uses the internet is the tutor, and it is optional.

1,188 QUESTIONS, EVERY ONE EXPLAINED Nothing is just marked right or wrong. Each question is worked through, and most carry the NEC, OSHA, NFPA or ANSI citation behind the rule so you can see where the answer comes from.

THE FOUR-YEAR APPRENTICE CURRICULUM 46 modules across Levels 1 to 4, each with its objectives, reading material, safety and code callouts, key terms and its own question set. • Level 1 — orientation, electrical safety, circuits, theory, the NEC, device boxes, hand bending, raceways and fittings, conductors and cables, construction drawings, residential services, test equipment • Level 2 — alternating current, motors, lighting, conduit bending, pull and junction boxes, conductor installations, cable tray, terminations and splices, grounding and bonding, breakers and fuses, control systems • Level 3 — load calculations for branch circuits and feeders, conductor selection, practical lighting, hazardous locations, overcurrent protection, distribution equipment, transformers • Level 4 — service and feeder calculations, health care facilities, standby and emergency systems, fire alarm systems, medium-voltage terminations, motor operation and maintenance, heat tracing, motor controls

A SCHEDULE BUILT ON WHAT YOU FORGET Every question carries its own memory model — how long you retain it and how hard it is for you personally. The FSRS scheduler brings it back on the day you are about to forget it, which is when a review buys the most retention per minute. Miss something and it returns in a minute, then ten, then days out as it sticks. Answer it cold three times and you will not see it again for weeks.

Sessions interleave across the exam areas instead of finishing one topic at a time. Blocked practice feels easier and transfers worse — the exam does not arrive one subject at a time either.

EXAM SIMULATION 40, 60, 80 or 100 questions, timed, weighted to the exam blueprint. Flag items, jump around a question grid, and get a per-area breakdown and a full review at the end. Everything you miss goes straight back into the schedule.

TABLES, FORMULAS AND CALCULATORS • 75 formula cards — Ohm's law, √3 relationships, take-ups, offset multipliers, demand factors, ampacity anchors • 25 reference tables — ampacity, correction and adjustment factors, conduit and box fill, EGC and GEC sizing, motor tables, approach boundaries, load-calculation walkthroughs • 6 calculators — Ohm's law and power, voltage drop, box fill, conduit bending, motor circuit sizing, three-phase power

Set your exam date in Settings and the whole plan paces backwards from it.

THE TUTOR, IF YOU WANT IT Stuck on why an answer is right? Ask the tutor and it explains it from this app's own material, citing the same code references the question does. It is the only screen that uses the internet: it sends the question you type, asks before the first time, and Settings turns it off again. If an answer names a code article that is not in the app's material, the app says so instead of letting it pass.

PRIVACY No account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Your progress never leaves your iPhone. The optional tutor is the only feature that sends anything — the question you type — it asks before the first time, and Settings turns it off.
