In short

Epitome: AI Page Summarizer summarizes web pages read in Safari, either whole or just a selected part, in a language the user picks. Page summaries are free, while selection summaries, page Q&A and extra options are part of a one-time Pro purchase. It runs on the model built into Macs with Apple Intelligence and can keep the original text visible beneath a summary.

About

Epitome summarizes any page you read in Safari — or just the part you select, right where it sits in the text — in the language you choose. Page summaries are free, as many as you like. With Epitome Pro, summarize just the part you select, or ask the page a question and get an answer from its own text. The model is the one already built into your Mac.

Requires a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on.

Click the Epitome button in Safari's toolbar and the summary starts writing itself in about two seconds, word by word. For just part of a page (Pro), select it and press ⇧⌘S, or right-click → Epitome.

ANY PAGE, NOT ONLY ARTICLES Forums, documentation, comment threads, product pages, pages that aren't articles at all: Epitome reads the page itself and summarizes what is there.

JUST THE PART YOU SELECT Select any part of a page — one paragraph or a whole section — then press ⇧⌘S or right-click → Epitome: it summarizes only what you selected. The summary takes that part's place right in the page, with the original kept underneath; close the card and the text is back. A long comment thread, dense terms of service, a wall of text in the middle of a good article: compressed in a second, intact underneath. Part of Epitome Pro — try it 7 times free.

ASK THE PAGE What does it say about pricing? Who is quoted? What changed since the last version? Type a question and get an answer taken from the page's own text — not the internet's, the page's. Ask follow-ups: Epitome keeps the conversation while you stay on the page. Part of Epitome Pro — try it free before you buy.

ABOUT 50 LANGUAGES Pick the language you want summaries in, from a page in any language — including languages Apple Intelligence itself doesn't offer yet. Or leave it on Auto and Epitome follows the page.

EPITOME PRO — ONE PURCHASE, NO SUBSCRIPTION • Ask the page. Answers from the page's own text, with follow-up questions. • Summarize a selection in place. Just the part you select, right where it sits in the page. • Any length. Short, long, or your own share of the text set with a slider — in the popup and in the page. • Very long pages. When a page won't fit the model on your Mac, Pro can hand it to Apple's Private Cloud Compute — Apple's servers, nothing stored — and you can turn that off. Without Pro, Epitome summarizes as much of the page as fits. • Share summaries and chats — to Notes, Mail, Messages and more. Before you buy, try summarizing a selection 7 times, and chat, length and sharing 7 times. One purchase, no subscription, shared with your family through Family Sharing. One purchase of Pro covers Mac, iPhone and iPad under the same Apple Account.

FREE, FOR GOOD Summaries of any page, in about 50 languages, and one-click copying are free: no trial, no expiry. No model to download, no account to create.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL • A Mac with Apple silicon, macOS 27 or later, and Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings. • Mac and Siri language set to one Apple Intelligence supports. The pages themselves can be in any language. • After installing, turn Epitome on in Safari → Settings → Extensions, and allow it on websites. The Epitome app checks all of this for you and shows what's missing.

PRIVACY Epitome has no account, no analytics and no servers. Summaries are written by the model on your Mac. The one exception is Pro's very-long-page option, which sends the text to Apple's Private Cloud Compute, where it isn't stored — and which you can turn off.
