About
EV Engine Sound gives your electric car the sound of a real combustion engine – live, through your car's speakers.
Mount your iPhone, connect it to the car over Bluetooth or CarPlay and press START. The app reads your speed from GPS and how hard you accelerate from the motion sensors, and runs a virtual gearbox on top: the revs climb, it shifts up, it blips down when you slow down and it crackles when you lift off.
THREE ENGINES • Muscle V8 – a 6.2 cross-plane V8 with the deep, uneven rumble and a 6-speed manual. • Italian V12 – a 6.5 V12 that screams to almost 9,000 rpm, with a 7-speed dual-clutch. • 3.0 I6 Turbo – a smooth straight six with turbo whistle, blow-off valve and an 8-speed automatic.
NOT A RECORDING The sound is generated live by an engine synthesizer from the firing order, the revs and the load. Every throttle input, every gear change and every lift-off sounds different.
MAKE IT YOURS • Exhaust: from quiet to straight pipe. • Pops & crackle: from off to anti-lag. • Turbo blow-off: from off to huge. • Inside sound: hear it as if you're in the cabin, with the deep boom and muffled highs. • Speed-based volume: turns the engine up as road and wind noise rise. • Play along with music, or let the engine have the speakers to itself.
SHIFT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL The track buttons on your steering wheel (⏮ / ⏭) become gear paddles. Hold a gear or lock the gearbox in manual. The current gear is shown on the car's display.
TRY IT AT HOME Simulator mode has on-screen gas and brake pedals and a virtual car, so you can rev the engines and go through the gears without driving. Neutral lets you rev in place.
PRIVATE No accounts, no ads, no tracking. GPS and motion data stay on your iPhone and are never sent anywhere.
Mount your iPhone securely before you drive and keep your eyes on the road. Set everything up before you set off. Engine sound can make you less aware of pedestrians – keep the volume at a level where you can still hear the traffic around you.
