PHOTOGRAPH THE NAMEPLATE. GET A SCHEDULE. Point your camera at the model plate on the back of an appliance. Hearth reads the brand and model, works out what it is, and builds a maintenance schedule from a knowledge base of how that kind of thing actually wears out. One photo, and you know your furnace filter is due in six weeks.

THEN IT REMINDS YOU. A reminder arrives before the thing breaks, not after. Change the filter, flush the water heater, clear the dryer vent — on the interval that matters for your equipment, not a generic checklist.

KEEP THE PROOF. Log what you did, what it cost, and who did it. When you sell the house, file a claim, or discover the warranty still covers the part that failed, the record is already there. Photos of nameplates, receipts and serial numbers sit with the thing they belong to.

KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY. Search any brand or model against the Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall database. Hearth also checks the things you already own, every night, and tells you when one of them turns up.
