About

Practice band hits, stops and kicks until they sit, plus a tempo trainer, practice timer and stage-ready setlists. One purchase, no subscription. Hit Trainer is a metronome for practice and for the stage. It brings together everything I have wanted from a metronome app in more than 10 years as a professional musician. It includes a Tempo Trainer that raises the tempo for you, a Practice Timer, a Setlist Mode with the tempos of your songs, optimized for use on stage, and a mode for practicing band hits and stops (kicks). Every feature can be adjusted in detail to your preferences. For example, you can practice odd meters, group them in every possible combination, and put the click on the "Double Off" with a single switch. The app is made for beginners and professionals alike: download it once and benefit from it for an entire career.

METRONOME • Tempo from 1 to 500 BPM: type it, dial it in or tap it. • Time signatures from 1/4 to 16/4, plus the odd meters 7/8, 9/8, 11/8 and 13/8 with selectable grouping such as 2+2+3 or 3+2+2. • Click as beep or wood block, subdivisions in eighths, triplets or sixteenths, "Double Off" on the offbeat sixteenths. • Mute individual beats. For example, click only on 2 and 4, or accent only the one.

TEMPO TRAINER The tempo rises automatically in steps, for example by 5 BPM every three minutes from 80 to 120, or falls if the target is below the start. Tempo changes always land on the one of the form you define in the cycle, where you also set up your band hits. At the target the app stops or keeps playing; if you like, you practice the target tempo for one more full step. A short flash marks each new step, and your progress is always on screen.

PRACTICE TIMER Set a fixed practice time from 5 to 60 minutes. When time is up, the app finishes the current pass through the cycle and stops.

SETLIST MODE Store the tempos of different songs in a setlist, with time signature and a note. On stage: big title, big number, big flashing light on a dark background, click optional. Count in every song at the right tempo and move to the next one with a single tap.

HITS AND STOPS Rebuild the spots in a song where the band hits or drops out: hits on a grid from quarters to 32nds, up to eight bars long, and marked stops where the click goes silent and you keep time yourself. Combine them into a cycle of up to 16 bars, mixed time signatures included, and practice the spot until it sits. You can also practice sequences of different time signatures here, for example one bar of 4/4 followed by one bar of 7/8.

PRIVACY No account, no ads, no tracking. The app needs no internet connection. Everything stays on your iPhone.
