About

LabelLight reads food labels for the ingredients you avoid. Point your camera at the ingredient list and those words light up on the package, with the exact word that matched: "whey (milk)", "tahini (sesame)".

Scanning labels and barcodes is unlimited, with no account. Labels are read on your iPhone. Photos are not uploaded.

HOW IT WORKS • Live scan: point at any ingredient list, no shutter needed • Photo mode: take or pick a photo of the label • Barcode: looks the product up in Open Food Facts, an open food database. If it isn't there, scan the label in one tap • Results: "Contains", "May contain" (from "may contain", "traces" and "made in a facility" lines), or "None of your triggers found in what we read — always check the package" • If part of the label couldn't be read, it says so and asks you to rescan • "Dairy-free" style claims are shown, never hidden • Checked list: the products you've looked at, per person, with the date

ALLERGEN LISTS The US 9 major allergens (FALCPA and the FASTER Act), the EU 14 (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex II) and Japan's 8 mandatory items (特定原材料). Ingredient synonyms in English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Wheat and gluten are separate. The sources are cited in the app.

LABELLIGHT PRO • Up to 6 people (kids, partner, parents), each with their own triggers, checked in one scan • Intolerance packs: low-FODMAP ingredients, lactose, seed oils, sugar alcohols • Custom words for anything else you avoid • Unlimited Checked list and recipe-change re-checks • A PDF of what you avoid and the products you've checked, for school, a caregiver or a sitter Without Pro: unlimited scans, every allergen for you, and up to 15 saved products.

PRIVACY Labels are read on this device. A barcode lookup sends only the barcode number to Open Food Facts. People, triggers and your Checked list stay on this device. Optional anonymous usage counts (like "app opened") never include what you scan. No account.

PLEASE READ LabelLight helps you spot ingredients. It can miss things: text can be unreadable, recipes change, and database entries can be wrong or out of date. It never gives an all-clear. Always read the package and follow your doctor's advice. Not a medical device. FODMAP flags mark ingredients by name, without serving sizes.

LabelLight Pro is an auto-renewing subscription: Pro Monthly at $4.99 per month, or Pro Annual at $29.99 per year with a 1-week free trial. When the trial ends, the annual plan is charged automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you allow notifications, the app reminds you 2 days before. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, or when the free trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. Lifetime is a one-time purchase of $59.99 that unlocks Pro and does not renew. Prices are in US dollars; your local price is shown in the app before you buy.
