Lettrow: Word Search Maker

Make a custom word-search print set from your own vocabulary. Lettrow generates real, different letter grids, checks that every entered word was placed, and creates matching worksheets and answer keys. All features are included in one upfront purchase.

YOUR WORDS, SAVED Create and reopen up to 20 local word sets. Type, paste or import a UTF-8 .txt list from Files. Add 2–40 words per set, one per line or separated by commas. Titles, instructions, print options, generated sheets and export counts persist locally. Start empty, or try the optional original garden sample. Delete sets and their local export files.

DIFFERENT SHEETS FROM ONE LIST Generate 1–20 unique sheets at once. Choose a 10–24 letter square and three direction levels: Gentle uses across and down; Standard adds forward diagonals; Challenge allows all eight directions. New layouts replace the current set. Every requested word must fit before a generated set is saved; otherwise Lettrow asks you to enlarge the grid or reduce the list. Each sheet has a reproducible layout ID.

PRINT THE RESULT Choose US Letter or A4, rounded or monospaced letters, a visible word bank and an optional name/date line. Save up to 10 named print setups per set. Inspect the full sheet and toggle the matching answer overlay. On iPad, see the vocabulary beside a large paper preview.

A COMPLETE PRINT PACKAGE Export Worksheets.pdf and a separate AnswerKeys.pdf in matching sheet order. Preview the actual PDFs or share each with native sharing. Share a ZIP containing both PDFs, individual grid-only SVGs, Words.txt, Project.json, a placements CSV and Readme. CSV coordinates are 1-based. PDF lettering and SVG grids are vector text; SVG appearance depends on the receiving app and installed fonts. Project.json records the setup and grid data; it is not an in-app restore format. Words.txt can be imported again.

One upfront purchase. No subscription, in-app purchases, account, advertising, analytics, tracking or developer-operated upload. System backups follow device settings.

WORD AND OUTPUT SCOPE Latin A–Z grid letters only. Accents are folded; spaces, apostrophes and hyphens are removed in the grid while the entered word label remains in the word bank. Digits and other scripts are not supported. Each normalized word must contain 2 letters to the selected grid size. Duplicate normalized words are rejected. Text imports up to 64 KB. Title up to 44 characters; instructions up to 160. Output uses fixed, fitted page layouts; long labels may be shortened visually. The source list and project record retain the full entered text.

Random filler can accidentally form extra words. Lettrow does not filter profanity or ensure a word occurs only once. Review worksheets before distributing. Use words and content you have permission to use. No built-in puzzle catalog, AI word suggestions, online play or publishing-platform acceptance guarantee.

Exports include your vocabulary, title, settings and placements. Review contents before sharing. At least 40 MB of free storage is required for exports. Removing a set does not remove copies you have shared elsewhere.
