About
Longlong is a little dragon who tells stories in Chinese.
Your child follows him through 26 illustrated picture books - Lunar New Year lanterns, a panda's bamboo breakfast, the rabbit in the moon, a kite on the Great Wall, a bell on the Silk Road, shadow puppets behind a screen. Every page has real Mandarin narration, pinyin, and English, so a child who speaks no Chinese can start on page one.
THE FIRST TWO BOOKS ARE FREE Longlong's Lantern Adventure and Panda's Bamboo Breakfast - ten illustrated pages - are free forever, with no time limit and no sign-up. One optional purchase of $1.00 opens the other 24 books and all four practice games. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it is the only thing this app ever sells. Purchases sit behind a parental gate a young child is not expected to pass.
WHAT'S INSIDE - 26 picture books, 130 illustrated pages - Real Mandarin narration on every sentence and every word - Pinyin and English support throughout - 110 vocabulary words with spaced review that brings a word back just before it fades - Four practice games: Listen & Find, Memory Lanterns, Magic Brush, Story Puzzle - Handwriting practice - trace real characters with a finger or Apple Pencil - Speaking practice using on-device speech recognition (completely optional) - A Daily Chinese widget for the Home and Lock Screen, plus Siri Shortcuts - A parent area with words explored, words mastered, and time spent today
BUILT FOR CHILDREN, AND FOR THE GROWN-UPS WATCHING - Works with no internet at all - good for planes, cars, and waiting rooms - No ads. Not one. - No account, no sign-up, no email address - No analytics and no tracking of any kind - Progress stays on the device and never leaves it - Short sessions and gentle praise - no streaks, no pressure, no timers - Supports Dynamic Type and VoiceOver
CULTURE, NOT JUST VOCABULARY Each book ends with a short, accurate note about where the story comes from - why red lanterns mean reunion, what the Terracotta Army actually is, how paper was made. Legends are named as legends.
Microphone and speech recognition are optional and used only while your child practices saying a phrase. Audio is processed on the device and is never recorded or uploaded. Every speaking page has a "Practice by listening" button, so any story can be finished without granting either permission.
