In short

Marine Lights App is an education app that teaches navigation lights, day shapes, sound signals, flags and buoy marks through 3D models of vessels shown at night from any bearing and distance. It is aimed at students and people preparing for sailing or powerboat certificates, and it works fully offline with no account or tracking. The standout feature is a black board that removes the hull so only the lights remain, as they appear after dark.

About

You cannot learn to recognise navigation lights from a table. Marine Lights shows every configuration the way you see it from the bridge — on a 3D model, from any bearing, at a distance you set yourself.

LIGHTS 42 COLREG configurations in seven categories: power-driven vessels, sail and oars, towing and pushing, fishing, vessels with restricted capability, anchored and aground, pilot vessels and others. You view each one on one of 30 3D models — container ship, ferry, tanker, tug with a barge, trawler, hovercraft, seaplane. View the vessel at night from any bearing and move out smoothly to 3 nautical miles. A black board drops the hull and leaves the lights alone: exactly what is there after dark.

SIGNALS 26 International Code of Signals flags, each with its letter, radio word and Morse code. 8 COLREG day shapes with their rule number. 14 sound signals you can listen to, with the rhythm written out — short, prolonged, bell, gong.

BUOYS 12 IALA marks, each with its daytime shape and its light rhythm on a timeline. Diagrams show which side to pass a cardinal mark and how to read Region A lateral marks.

TESTS 200 questions, a daily quiz, a review of your mistakes and a score broken down by category. Sector questions only reveal the true arcs after you answer, so you find out whether you really know.

REMINDER Pick the weekdays and the time, and the app reminds you to revise. Notifications are local.

WORKS OFFLINE Everything is in the app. No account, no advertising, no tracking, no internet connection. Your progress stays on the device.

12 LANGUAGES Interface and content in English, Polish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish, Finnish and Greek. The app follows the device language, and you can change it in Settings.

WHO IT IS FOR For anyone preparing for a sailing or powerboat certificate, for maritime school students and for anyone who goes out on the water after dark.

This app is for study and revision. On the water, the current regulations, official publications and your vessel's procedures apply.
