About
Open and edit the Markdown your AI gives you.
Markopen is a native Mac app for reading and editing Markdown files. Open an AI plan, note, README, or draft and see a formatted document.
IMAGES AND DIAGRAMS Read local images and Mermaid flowcharts, state, sequence, class, entity relationship, and XY diagrams. Callouts display clearly, and relative wiki links open your related documents. Remote images remain links.
READ, LIVE, OR EDIT Choose a formatted reading view, a live Markdown editor, or plain Markdown source. Switch modes without changing your file format.
FIND YOUR PLACE Use the document outline to move between headings. Search within a document with the Mac's familiar Find tools.
WORK WITH YOUR FILES Open .md and .markdown files from Finder or the File menu. Keep separate documents in separate windows. Save changes as UTF-8 Markdown, with native undo, redo, and autosave.
KEEP NOTES ORGANIZED Read YAML frontmatter in a compact metadata card. Edit fields in Live mode and check off tasks from the reading view.
LOCAL BY DESIGN Markopen processes your documents on your Mac. It has no account, ads, analytics, or built-in cloud service. Your files stay where you choose to save them, including folders managed by your own sync service.
Requires macOS 13 or later.
