In short

Mattarello: AI Recipe Scanner is a utility for keeping your own recipes, building shopping lists scaled to the number of people, and tracking pantry stock on your phone. Its on-device assistant can read photos of printed recipes and receipts, and estimate nutrition per serving from NEVO and USDA data. Recipes stay on the phone, with no account, no analytics and no server, and iCloud sync is optional.

About

MATTARELLO A cookbook that never leaves your kitchen.

Serves: everyone at your table Prep: two minutes Keeps: as long as you keep the phone

INGREDIENTS

Your own recipes, as many as you like 1 shopping list that scales with the number of people 1 pantry that keeps count of what you have in A handful of AI, running on the phone itself, optional No account, no trackers, no server

METHOD

1. Write your recipes down. Name, course, time, servings, a photo of the dish. Ingredients get their amounts, your notes get the steps. Tap an ingredient and it drops into your text. Link it once and the amounts in your method follow the list from then on. Nothing to type over? Copy Mattarello's prompt into ChatGPT or Claude, paste the answer back, and the form fills itself in.

2. Tap the basket. Say how many you're cooking for and the ingredients land on your shopping list at the right amounts. Four dishes this week? They merge into one list, sorted by supermarket aisle, so you only walk the shop once.

3. Let the pantry do the arithmetic. Put what you have at home in the pantry, with amounts. Every recipe you plan takes its share out, your receipt tops it back up. Whatever is already in the cupboard comes off the list: the olive oil, the salt, that half bag of pasta.

4. Ask the assistant. Photograph a printed recipe and it comes back typed out: name, time, ingredients, method. Photograph your receipt and your pantry fills itself. Ask what is in a dish and you get the nutrition per serving, a Nutri-Score, the NOVA scale and a few tips, worked out on your phone from NEVO (RIVM) and USDA FoodData Central. An estimate, not medical advice.

5. Serve. Gather every recipe you own into one PDF, beautifully laid out: to print, to share, or to give to someone without a phone.
