Night Cam: Stars & Aurora

Night Cam is a night-sky camera with a free aurora forecast built in. Open it, see tonight's odds, pick a preset and shoot.

TONIGHT'S FORECAST (ALWAYS FREE) - Aurora chance for where you are, from NOAA's live aurora model and Kp forecast - Cloud cover for the next 12 hours - Moon phase and brightness - One suggestion: the preset worth opening tonight - Optional aurora alerts, at most one a night

PHOTO PRESETS - Stars: 16 seconds of light stacked into one clean photo. Far less grain than a single shot. - Moon: exposed for moonlight on the telephoto lens, so you get craters instead of a white blob. - Aurora: a short stack that keeps moving curtains crisp. - Trails: star trails that grow as long as you leave it running. - City: skyline and lights from the balcony or terrace.

VIDEO PRESETS - Night: bright video at 24 fps. - Aurora Live: quarter-second frames that show the aurora moving in real time. - Time-lapse: one frame a second, played back at 30 fps.

BUILT FOR STANDING OUTSIDE IN THE DARK - Each preset tells you how to hold the phone: tripod, wall or hand-held. - A 3-second countdown and a steadiness check before long shots. - Red night-vision mode keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark. - Exposure is metered from your actual sky, so a lit city terrace and a dark field both come out right.

PRICING Your first 3 captures are free. Then choose: - Night Cam Pro: $4.99 once, everything forever. - Night Pass: $0.99 for 48 hours of everything. It does not renew. No subscriptions. The forecast is always free.
