Nightjar plays the audiobooks you already own. There is no catalogue and no store inside — you point it at your own files and it does the rest.
YOUR STORAGE, NOT OURS Files on the device, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or a WebDAV server: Nextcloud, Yandex Disk, pCloud, Koofr, Icedrive, Box, Synology and others.
STARTS IN SECONDS Books stream as you listen — playback begins as soon as the first piece arrives, whether the book runs one hour or twenty. Jumping back to re-hear a passage or skipping ahead pulls just that spot, so you never wait for a full download. What you have heard stays on the phone for next time.
OFFLINE WHEN YOU NEED IT Download a book for the flight, pause and resume it, and free the space again with one tap.
EVERY WAY TO GET BOOKS IN Share or AirDrop from other apps, whole folders from the Files app, the app's folder in Finder on your Mac, transfer from a computer over Wi-Fi, or a direct link to a file of your own. ZIP archives are unpacked right on the device. Point at the top of a collection and Nightjar walks the tree: an m4b is one book, a folder of chapters is one book, multi-disc folders become volumes.
BUILT FOR LONG LISTENS Chapters and bookmarks, playback speed, sleep timer, precise resume, lock-screen and headphone controls.
FORMATS Plays directly: MP3, M4B, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC. M4B keeps its chapters and cover. MKA and MKV are repacked on the device without re-encoding, so nothing is lost in quality. Not supported: OGG, Opus, WMA, and any DRM-protected file — including Audible AA and AAX. Nightjar plays DRM-free files only.
THEMES AND BACKUPS Handcrafted light and dark themes, and a daily local backup of your listening progress that you can restore or export.
PRIVACY No account to create, no ads, and no tracking: no analytics, attribution or measurement SDKs, no usage statistics and no behavioural events. Only two things reach us: a crash report when the app fails — you are asked about it on first launch and can switch it off at any time — and, if you buy Pro, an anonymous record of the purchase. Your passwords and access tokens stay in the device keychain, and your books are fetched straight from your storage to your phone — we run no server and never see your library.
FREE AND PRO Everything local is free: the full player, every way of importing, Wi-Fi transfer, and the base themes. Pro adds cloud sources, offline downloads and the extra themes, as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, with a 7-day trial. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your App Store account settings.
