PadPad
Not claimedA small pad, always close at hand
By August Cayzer · ProductivityWhy we expect it: A focused, privacy-respecting scratchpad with clear value, offline use, and thoughtful Markdown and drafting features that serve writers well.
In short
PadPad is a Mac notepad for quick plain text or Markdown notes, opened with a keyboard shortcut and hidden again when you are done. It suits people who want to jot thoughts without leaving their current work. One notable point: unsaved drafts stay available for a set time after hiding, and are cleared when the app quits.

A small pad, always close at hand.
PadPad gives your thoughts a place to land without pulling you away from what you’re doing. Bring it forward with a keyboard shortcut, jot something down, then tuck it away again.
WRITE YOUR WAY Write in plain text or edit formatted Markdown, with headings, bold, italic, lists, links, quotes, and code. Reveal formatting controls when you need them, or keep the toolbar simple.
KEEP WHAT MATTERS Use a temporary draft for passing thoughts, or save your work as a .txt or .md file. Open and edit existing files, choose automatic saving, and customize how new files are named.
A FRESH PAD WHEN YOU NEED IT Set how long an unsaved draft stays available after you hide PadPad. Return within that time to pick up where you left off. After it expires, start fresh. Temporary drafts stay in memory and are cleared when you quit; save anything you want to keep.
READY TO GO ELSEWHERE Copy readable text and formatting into other apps, copy Markdown source explicitly, or share your file using the Mac’s standard Share menu.
MAKE IT YOURS Choose your accent color and shortcuts, and decide whether PadPad appears in the Dock, menu bar, or both.
PadPad works offline, with no account, ads, or subscriptions. Your writing stays on your Mac or in the file location you choose.
Requires macOS 27 or later.
