RadioSEM is a radio player built around one idea: the station should shape the screen. Play a station and RadioSEM reads its logo, pulls the dominant colour out of it and rebuilds the player around that colour, with the station on a record label in the middle of the screen. A jazz station and a news station never look alike, and the song title changes as the broadcaster sends it.
A live counter shows how many other RadioSEM listeners are on the same station right now, and the home screen keeps a shelf of the stations that are busiest at this moment - a way to find what people are actually listening to, not just what is popular on average.
The catalogue is our own. More than 44,000 stations, checked continuously by our servers so that dead streams drop out of the list and come back when they answer again. Search by name, narrow by country and genre, or run down the alphabet index at the side of the list.
Playback continues while you use other apps or lock the screen, with the station and its controls on the lock screen. Speed and pitch controls change the sound in real time, and a sleep timer fades it out on its own.
Your favourites, listening history and listening stats belong to your account, so they follow you to any device you sign in on. Sign in with Apple sits alongside e-mail and Google, and you can delete your account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app.
RadioSEM is free and supported by ads. RadioSEM Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription at US$1.99 per month: it removes every ad, lifts the three-station limit on favourites and unlocks the speed and pitch controls permanently. Payment is charged to your App Store account and the subscription renews each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel it in your App Store settings. A short rewarded video unlocks the same features for three hours if you would rather try them first.
