About
ScalePractice hands you one scale exercise after another: a key, a position, the matching shape on the fretboard. You play it, then fetch the next. 311 exercises, each one exactly once before any of them comes round again.
THE FIVE POSITIONS Every scale in the five positions of the CAGED system — E, D, C, A and G. Above the fretboard you see which one is up and which fret the root sits in.
ONE POSITION, EVERY SCALE All the scales of a position sit in the same place on the neck: the pentatonic sets the fret window, blue notes and the remaining degrees join it inside. You move between pentatonic, blues pentatonic and the full scale (Aeolian and Ionian) without moving your hand — in minor as in major.
FOR SOLOING Improvising needs the scales in every position and every key — not just the two that sit under your hand by themselves. Those are the gaps the round closes, because it leaves no exercise out.
TUNER Play a string, read the needle. Against concert pitch A4 = 440 Hz.
LISTENING The microphone listens while you practise, and the note you played lights up on the fretboard for a moment. One note at a time — the detection cannot tell chords apart.
METRONOME AND SOUND Metronome from 30 to 300 beats. Tap a dot to hear it on its own, or have the whole scale played to you — with the sound of a steel string, not a synthesiser.
YOUR SETTINGS What comes up and how far up the neck. Intervals or note names on the dots. Note naming German (H), international (B) or solfège (Do–Re–Mi). Fretboard across or upright, left-handed mode, light or dark. Four languages: German, English, Spanish, French.
