Scrub: Photo Metadata Remover

Photos can carry more than the picture: GPS coordinates, the camera's serial number, the exact capture time, and the app that edited them. Scrub shows you every hidden field and removes it before you share.

Pick a photo and Scrub lists what it found, in plain language rather than raw tag names. Tap a coordinate to see the place in Maps. Tap Strip All, then save or share the clean copy. The original stays untouched. Scrub then re-reads the saved file and reports anything that remains, so you can confirm the result yourself.

WHAT IT REMOVES • GPS location from EXIF, XMP, C2PA content credentials, and MakerNote data • Camera make, model, lens, and serial number • Capture and edit timestamps, editing software • Embedded thumbnails that can reveal a pre-crop version • XMP, IPTC, and JFIF blocks and PNG text chunks

LIVE PHOTOS A Live Photo carries a paired video that can hold its own location. Scrub detects it, drops it by default, or keeps it and scrubs it as a separate file.

JPEG stripping is lossless, with no re-encoding.

PRIVACY Scrub processes photos on your iPhone or iPad and uploads no photos or metadata. There is no account and no analytics. The only network use is validating a Pro purchase. Scrub does not ask to read your photo library: the system picker hands it only the photos you choose, and Scrub asks only for permission to add the clean copy.

Requires iOS 15 or later.
