By ThoughtBubble Development, LLC · ProductivityWhy we expect it: Clear on-device search across your own files, with excerpts, source locations, and no account or cloud needed.
In short
SearchThing: Private Search is a productivity app that gathers PDFs, Word documents, Markdown, text, photos, and other supported files into one on-device library. It offers Smart, Meaning, and Exact search modes, shows excerpts with their source locations, and lets users pin passages, add notes, and save searches. Its standout detail is that files, index, and searches stay on the iPhone or iPad, with no account or cloud search.

That line is in one of your files. SearchThing helps you find it.
Bring PDFs, Word documents, Markdown, text, photos, and other supported files into one private library. Search across their passages instead of opening files one by one.
SEARCH THE WAY YOU THINK
• Smart starts with your words and adds related passages. • Meaning finds ideas phrased differently. • Exact stays with the words you entered.
FOLLOW THE EVIDENCE
See useful excerpts and their source locations. Open the original PDF or readable text, inspect why a passage matched, pin it, or add a note. Save searches you come back to.
MADE FOR YOUR DEVICE
Your files, index, and searches stay on your iPhone or iPad. Search and meaning matching run locally after a one-time model download. No account, subscription, ads, or cloud search.
SearchThing requires iOS 17 or later. Initial setup downloads a roughly 329 MB EmbeddingGemma model after you accept its terms. Wi-Fi is recommended.
