About

Spas is an Orthodox calendar, prayer book and encyclopedia in English and Russian. It works offline and without an account; no data is collected.

TODAY • Civil and church date, the week of the liturgical year (“18th week after Pentecost”). • Feast and commemorations of the day, forefeasts and leave-takings. • Fasting: reference food rules of the chosen tradition with an explanation. Please agree your personal measure of fasting with your priest. • Prayer of the day, icon, saint and a short article. • Scripture readings for every day: Epistle and Gospel with text (World English Bible), Matins, Hours and Old Testament readings.

CALENDAR • Choose your tradition: Russian Orthodox Church (Old Style, Julian) or New Calendar (Revised Julian). The profile is chosen explicitly and never inferred from your language. • Pascha, the Twelve Great Feasts and other great feasts, fasts and fast-free weeks, memorial Saturdays, principal commemorations of saints for every day (Old Style). • Verified years: 2020–2035.

PRAYERS • Morning and evening prayers, before meals, for loved ones, for the sick, for the departed and more; a reading mode with font and theme settings.

EXPLORE • Ten famous historical icons with high-quality public-domain photographs — Christ Pantocrator of Sinai, the Theotokos of Vladimir, Rublev's Trinity and others — with full-screen zoom and a description of each. • Church history (including the seven Ecumenical Councils), lives of saints, icons, holy places on a map, basics of the faith and a glossary. Search titles and full texts.

WALLPAPER • Turn an icon, a prayer or a holy place into a phone wallpaper in a couple of taps: a ready preview that keeps clear of the clock and widgets, then save it to Photos and set it as your Lock Screen or Home Screen.

Honest about coverage: the Old Style calendar lists the principal commemorations of each day, not the full synaxarion; the New Calendar profile does not yet include a daily menologion. Daily readings are computed from Orthocal open data (MIT) and checked on sample dates; days where the Typikon leaves the choice to the printed calendar are marked. Sources and review status are shown in the app.
