Tempermark: Maker Test Log

Tempermark is a material-test and proven-settings notebook for makers who run lasers, kilns, welders and heat-treat ovens.

Every good result starts as a test. Tempermark keeps the exact settings, the material batch, the machine, a photo of the sample and what you observed — then lets you mark the setup you trust as proven. Next time you face the same material on the same machine, the last proven setup is one tap away.

RECORD THE TRIAL • Typed settings for each process: laser power, speed, passes, focus, line interval and air assist; kiln cone, peak, hold, firing schedule, glaze layers and shelf position; weld amperage, voltage, wire speed, gas, joint and position; heat-treat soak, quench, temper cycles and hardness. • Values are stored exactly as you enter them, with their units. Anything you don't record stays "Unknown" — never zero. • Engrave, score and cut presets are kept separate, so one is never mistaken for another.

FROM RESULT TO PROVEN SETUP • Record the outcome: pass, needs adjustment or fail, a 1–5 rating, tags and notes. • Mark the setup as proven. An earlier proven setup for the same material, machine and operation is superseded automatically, so recall always gives one answer. • Corrections keep the earlier issued version in history, so you can always see what changed and when.

CHANGE ONE VARIABLE • "Run again" duplicates a setup exactly. "Change one" copies everything and lets you adjust a single setting — controlled testing without retyping. • Compare trials side by side with the changed fields highlighted. • Follow each trial's lineage from its first attempt to the proven setup.

TEST GRIDS (PRO) • Lay out a power × speed (or any two-setting) grid like a laser test card. Each cell is a real trial with your own darkness reading and result.

EXPORT AND BACK UP • One-page PDF setup sheets and multi-trial history sheets (Pro), CSV for spreadsheets, and complete backups you can restore on another device.

APPLE WATCH • Glance at your proven setups, run follow-up timers such as "Unload kiln", and log a result from your wrist.
