About

Today's Hue does exactly one thing: it fills your screen with a single traditional Chinese or Japanese color, every day.

Dai Lan, Yue Bai, Qian Se, Tian Piao, Shinonome… 397 colors, each with its own name and origin. The names themselves are poetry.

TODAY'S COLOR The whole screen becomes today's color. Flip the card to read its HEX / RGB / CMYK / HSL values, plus a note on where the name comes from. Swipe left and right to revisit yesterday or preview tomorrow.

COLOR ATLAS 397 traditional colors — 234 Chinese and 163 Japanese — organized into ten hue families: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, pink, brown and neutral. Browse, and bookmark the ones you love into your own palette.

MADE TO BE EASY ON THE EYES · Text color adapts automatically to the background's brightness (computed with WCAG relative luminance), so pale colors stay readable · Patterns, seals and the rice-paper texture are all drawn in code — not a single bitmap asset — leaving an interface as clean as a sheet of Xuan paper · Favorites and preferences are stored only on your device, and deleted when you uninstall

QUIET, RESTRAINED, RESPECTFUL · Runs completely offline — no internet needed to open · No third-party ads, analytics or tracking SDKs · Collects no personal data, and needs no account · No in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no push notifications

May every day's color find the corner of you that it lights up.
