About

Tokoshie generates endless ambient music: slowly changing chords made from sine waves. Open it to listen. It keeps playing with the screen locked or while you use other apps.

Thirty-two chords, each made from four sine waves. One gives way to another, with the time between changes varying as the piece unfolds. The sound is generated on your device.

The piece follows a timeline that began on 9 September 2026. Opening the app joins it where it is now. With the same key and pace, devices follow the same piece at the same time, without communicating.

Double-tap to adjust the pace, from an average of seven to fifty-six seconds a chord. Under About, enter a word in the Key field to hear a piece determined by that word. The same word produces the same piece; leave the field empty for the shared piece.

On screen: two chord names and a single moving hand against black.
