About

YardScope — Plan your yard to real scale, then watch it grow.

**Overview**

YardScope is a yard-scale garden planner. Import an aerial photo of your yard (from Google Maps or a drone), set north, calibrate with one known distance — then lay out trees, shrubs, perennials, groundcovers, and hardscape at their true dimensions. No aerial photo? No problem — start from scratch on a grid canvas, or drop in a ready-made yard template. Drag a timeline forward and watch the garden fill in: spacing that's too tight, colliding canopies, blocked sight lines, all revealed years before they become a problem.

Every plant is sized to the real yard, not the nursery pot.

**Core Features**

• Yard-scale planning: import an aerial photo, set north, and calibrate with any known distance — your house, a fence section — or draw a reference line along a known edge and type its true length. Everything you place after that has real size meaning. Or start with no photo at all on a grid canvas.

• Hardscape & structures: place houses, garages, patios, lawns, pools, water features, parking spots, and driveways with one click — resize by dragging their edges or typing exact dimensions. Draw fences, garden beds, paths, and walls freehand; walls carry real thickness and cast shadows like buildings.

• Growth preview: each plant has a "current size" and a "mature size." Drag the timeline forward and watch the bed fill in — overcrowding, canopy collisions, and sight-line blockages surface years early.

• Sun & shade: set north and your location, then advance through the day to watch shadows sweep across the yard and see where the sun reaches.

• Spacing & light: two automatic checks at any timeline year — spacing flags canopy overlaps and tight gaps; light analysis measures each plant's actual winter-solstice sun against its needs and flags mismatches.

• Measure anything: a built-in ruler measures any two points at real scale, in metric or imperial — fence runs, planting gaps, the walk to the spigot.

• Seasonal view: preview bloom time, fall color, evergreen structure, and winter dormancy quarter by quarter — so your garden has something to say twelve months a year, not just one weekend in May.
