BuddyLock: Focus with Friends

BuddyLock locks the apps that pull you away from studying — and gives the key to a friend.

HOW IT WORKS • Pick apps, categories or websites with Apple's Screen Time picker. BuddyLock never sees their names. • Lock now for 15 minutes to 2 hours, or set weekly study times. • The lock screen has no unlock button. Need one app back? Send a friend an unlock request. • Your friend opens a short web page and reads you a six-digit code. They don't need the app or an account. • The code is one-time. It opens only the apps you chose, for up to 15 minutes, then they lock again automatically.

WHILE YOU'RE LOCKED • Lock more apps: add apps to a running lock. They stay locked until the same time. • Extend: add 15, 30 or 60 minutes. A lock can only get longer. • Emergency exit for real emergencies: three times in 30 days, after a short wait.

HONEST LIMITS iOS still lets the phone's owner turn off Screen Time access or delete any app. BuddyLock doesn't pretend otherwise — it puts the next step in a friend's hands.
