Car Import Tax EU calculates the registration tax, VAT and fees due when a car moves from one European country to another, on the official scales of the destination country.

WHAT IT CALCULATES • The registration tax of the destination country, with its own rules: ISV in Portugal, NoVA in Austria, BPM in the Netherlands, VRT in Ireland, the French malus, the Danish registreringsafgift, the Finnish autovero and the others • VAT only when it is really due: a used car bought in another EU country pays none, a "new" car in the VAT sense (under 6 months or 6,000 km) pays it in the destination country • Customs duty and import VAT for destinations outside the EU: Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco • Road transport and the usual administrative fees • The yearly tax you will pay afterwards

HONEST ABOUT THE LIMITS When a country bases its tax on an official value it does not publish, the app says so instead of inventing a figure. When a car cannot be registered at all — a Euro 3 car in Greece, for instance — it tells you.
