AlefOrigins

Discover where letters come from.

Every letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet began as a picture. Alef was an ox head. Bet was a house. Follow each one across 4,000 years — from pictogram to Phoenician, Greek and Latin — and the alphabet stops being a list of shapes and becomes a story you remember.

LEARN THE WAY LETTERS ARE BUILT • Seven lessons group the 22 letters and 5 final forms by shape, from simple strokes to diagonals • Watch each letter's evolution animate, with its origin story and surprising facts • Trace every letter with your finger or Apple Pencil — in print, cursive and Rashi script

PRACTICE UNTIL IT STICKS • Eight games: match names, spot letters inside real words, tell look-alikes apart, memory, a 30-second speed round, and finding words in Bible verses • Reading lines that grow with you: syllables, first words, phrases, and the opening of the Torah • Vowels (niqqud), real words by level, and a yoga alphabet to form letters with your body

SEE HOW FAR YOU'VE COME • Points, levels, streaks and achievements • A certificate when you've mastered all 22 letters — share it as an image or PDF
