Jigwell: Private Tools

Your files stay on your device.

Jigwell is 26 tools for the small file jobs that come up every day: merging a PDF, shrinking a photo for an email, opening a zip, checking a hash. Every one runs on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to.

Every tool is free for single files in every 1.x release.

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO • No account. Open it and use it. • No networking code. The only connection the app makes is Apple's own, to the App Store, when you buy or restore Pro. • No analytics, no advertising, no third-party code. The App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected. • Every tool works in Airplane Mode.

WHAT'S IN IT PDF: merge, split and rotate; turn pages into images, or images into a PDF. Images: resize, compress, and convert between JPEG, PNG and HEIC. Location data is stripped from what you export. Files: make and open zip archives; see any file's size, SHA-256 and the type its name gives; convert CSV to JSON and back, and property lists to JSON or between XML and binary. Text: compare two texts; Base64 and URL encoding, JSON formatting, MD5 and SHA hashes, case conversion and word count. Quick tools: make a QR code or read one from a saved image; generate passwords and UUIDs; convert timestamps and number bases. Focus: a focus timer with a Home Screen widget and an Apple Watch app.

Send a file to Jigwell from any app's share sheet and it opens in the right tool. Five tools run from the Shortcuts app: Generate Password, Generate UUID, Generate Hash, and Base64 and URL encoding. Put six quick tools and the focus timer on the Home Screen as widgets, and generate a password, UUID or QR code on Apple Watch.

LIMITS, STATED NOW • Up to 200 MB per file, 500 MB per batch and 200 MB per archive. Jigwell checks before it starts, not halfway through. • No text recognition (OCR), no iCloud sync and no multi-step workflows yet. They are planned for later versions. • No camera document scanning. QR codes are read from saved images, by design. • No WebP export: Apple provides no WebP encoder. WebP files open normally. • No password-protected archives yet.

FREE AND PRO Jigwell Pro adds compressing several images at once in Compress Image, your full history, exporting that history to a file, and saved presets. The free tier shows your 20 most recent history entries and Pro shows all of them; everything is stored on your device either way.

Pro Yearly starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Pro is also available monthly, or as a one-off purchase that never renews. Yearly and one-off Pro are shared with your Family Sharing group. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your Apple Account settings.
