Simple English JP

A little practice, at your own pace. Simple English JP brings vocabulary, conversation and reading practice together on iPhone and iPad. It is designed for Japanese learners of English, from students practising between lessons to adults returning to English.

ONE PURCHASE. NO ADS. A single purchase includes all the practice in the app. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases, and no account to create.

START WHERE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE Choose a level first or start with a practice type. There is no placement test, and you can switch levels whenever you like. Choose Random for a mix of questions from your selected level.

PRACTISE IN DIFFERENT WAYS • Fill the Gap: choose the word that fits a sentence. • Flashcards: check meanings and examples, then judge your own recall. • Matching: connect English words and phrases with their Japanese meanings. • Vocabulary & Grammar: practise with multiple-choice questions. • Conversations: choose the answer that fits an everyday exchange. • Reading / Longer Reading: read notices, stories and other texts, then answer comprehension questions. • Read & Answer: read a short text and choose the best response. Available activities vary by level. Level 4 focuses on business vocabulary and phrases.

UNDERSTAND YOUR ANSWERS Multiple-choice questions include Japanese explanations, whether your answer is right or wrong. Revisit mistakes by activity type, or start a fresh practice session while keeping your existing progress.

FOUR LEVELS TO CHOOSE FROM Level 1: EIKEN® Grade 4 / TOEIC® Listening & Reading Test up to 250 as a guide Level 2: EIKEN Grade 3 / TOEIC L&R 200–450 as a guide Level 3: EIKEN Grades Pre-2 and 2 / TOEIC L&R 450–600 as a guide Level 4: Business English / EIKEN Grade 2 and above / TOEIC L&R 550 and above as a guide These references are approximate guides for choosing practice material. The ranges overlap because the exams measure different skills.

PRACTISE OFFLINE The practice content is included in the app, so you can use it without an internet connection. There is no audio or sound feedback. Explanations and vocabulary meanings are in Japanese, with English activity labels.

PROGRESS STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE Check your answer counts, correct answers and items waiting for review on the Progress page. The app does not send your learning records to a server or sync them between devices. Depending on your device settings, records may be included in Apple's device backups. Opening external website or social media links requires an internet connection.
