Canvas for Student Instructure

Canvas Rise is a native Mac companion for Canvas LMS. Connect your school's Canvas in one step and every course, assignment, grade, announcement, message and file arrives in a calm, fast window designed for macOS — with study tools built in.

WHAT NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION, TODAY • See what is due this week, what is overdue and what is missing, the moment you open your Mac. • Tick assignments off in Canvas Rise and they are marked complete in Canvas too. • Today's schedule, the latest announcements and a grade snapshot on one screen.

EVERY COURSE, CLEARLY • Courses with grade rings, teachers and terms. • Modules with progress, recent announcements and what is coming up. • Assignments per course with status, points and instructions.

ASSIGNMENTS, IN ORDER • All your work across courses grouped by day. • Filters for upcoming, overdue, submitted and graded; search; course filter. • A detail pane with instructions, submission status and one-click "open in Canvas".

GRADES & GPA • Current grades with weighted breakdowns by assignment group. • What-if calculator: exactly what you need on the final to reach your target. • A GPA calculator that fills itself in from your courses.

CALENDAR • Due dates and events on a month grid with a day agenda. • Import your Canvas calendar feed — it works even without an access token. • Export a month to Apple Calendar as an .ics file.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, INBOX & DISCUSSIONS • Read announcements with full formatting; unread state syncs with Canvas. • Read and reply to messages, or start a new conversation with live recipient search. • Follow discussion threads and post replies.

FILES • Browse course files by folder, sort and search, download or open in Canvas.

STUDY TOOLS • Focus Timer: Pomodoro blocks tied to your courses, with breaks, a daily goal, streaks and a weekly chart. • Flashcards: decks per course with spaced repetition that decides what to review today. Paste a list or import a CSV. • Notes & Citations: autosaving notes per course and APA 7, MLA 9 and Chicago citations for books, websites and journal articles. • Insights: workload by week, points at stake per course, submission rate, focus trends and your busiest days.

MADE FOR THE MAC • Liquid Glass on macOS 26, a frosted look on macOS 15 — no clutter, no gradients. • Light, dark and automatic appearance; larger-text and reduce-motion options. • ⌘K command palette, ⌘1–⌘0 tool switching, a menu bar timer, notifications. • The Focus Timer, Flashcards, Notes & Citations and the GPA calculator work before you connect an account.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your access token stays in your Mac's Keychain and is only ever sent to your school's Canvas. Canvas Rise has no accounts of its own, no analytics and no ads.
