Capstone File Finder
Sin reclamarCan't find a file?
De Tom Doyle · ProductividadPor qué la esperamos: Searching files by describing them in plain language, with everything kept on-device, addresses a real frustration for Mac users.
En resumen
Capstone File Finder is a Mac app that searches files by plain-language descriptions, such as "the lease from last spring" or "pdfs from last year." It reads text inside PDFs, Word and Excel files, scanned pages and photos, and builds its index on the Mac without uploading anything. What stands out is that it shows how it interpreted each request before listing the matching files.

Can't find a file? Just describe it.
Capstone File Finder reads the words inside your documents, scanned pages, photos and spreadsheets, then lets you search the way you talk:
• "the lease from last spring" • "photos from July 2025" • "tax return" • "flight itinerary" • "pdfs from last year"
It understands dates, seasons, file types and places, shows you how it read your request, and lists the matching files with the sentence that matched. Double-click to open, press Space for Quick Look, right-click to show the file in Finder.
WHAT IT READS • PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, text and CSV files • Scanned PDFs and photographed pages, using on-device text recognition • Photos, by the date and place they were taken • Any folder you choose: Desktop, Documents, Downloads, iCloud Drive, and the folders Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive keep on your Mac
PRIVATE BY DESIGN The index is built and stored on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and the app only reads the folders you pick in the standard macOS folder dialog.
SIMPLE TO START Add a folder, let the index build in the background, and search. A short built-in tutorial video shows every step.
SUBSCRIPTION Capstone File Finder is free to download. Searching requires a subscription of $9.99 per month after a 3-day free trial.
